Beachy Hair At Home - You Can Do It!

While there's nothing like a good blow out, with two little kids at home, sometimes I am left with no choice but to let you hair dry naturally.  It is always a nightmare for me because I have been blessed (or should I say cursed?) with curly-ish hair that always ends up a big frizzy mess.

Why can't my hair just dry at home the way it does when you are on vacation?  Maybe it’s the water? Maybe the air? But whatever it is, my hair just looked like a big mess air drying at home.  So when I saw hair products designed to give you beachy waves, would they be the solution I was looking for?
The concept is quite simple, add the ocean water back to your hair so it dries as it would if you were really there. they were really easy to use and actually gave great results. I have tried three different products that all actually do a similar job, but leave the hair feeling a smelling a bit different.  The three I have tested are the Bumble And Bumble Surf Infusion ($29), OGX Moroccan Sea Salt Spray ($5.99), and the Ouai Wave Spray ($26).  The first two are infused with salts and oil while the third contains rice proteins.  The Oaui spray had more of a sticky consistency when I put in on, while the other two went about the same as a light spray.

Here are the basic steps that anyone - even the most hair-challenged people - can follow:

1. Wash and condition your hair as you normally would.

2. Comb through the hair with a wide tooth comb.

3. Generously spritz the hair with the spray. Make sure not to forget the undersides of the hair. I tend to lift strands of hair up and spray.

4. Comb through the hair again make sure that the spray is evenly spread.

5. Scrunch the hair in your fingers to try to create waves .

6. Wait and pray.

I have been pleasantly surprised that each did a very good job. The Ouai spray gave nice shine and reduced frizziness with beautiful waves.  The Bumble and Bumble and the OGX gave me more waviness  and that looked like I had been at the beach, and the results for both were pretty similar.

My most important conclusion is that there was no correlation between amount of prayers and how your hair comes out with these products.  Whether I prayed or not, the hair dried pretty consistently.  Because of that, beach wave hair sprays are TheDermWife Approved!
